Not Neptune’s rules – the real rules of racing. They have been changing the last 5~6 years so it is important that you understand the changes if you have qualified as a racing skipper.

We had a slow start this Spring with the cold weather and a lack of competition but it looks like it will be a really good summer. There is a lot more energy in the Friday night races and we have a very well-sailed new boat to compete against on Wednesdays.
Mark July 15th on your calendar. This is Neptune’s big night with the local sailing community.
If you are interested in participating, sign up sheets are in the Clubhouse on the other side of the door.

Our hero, Jim, arranged for some important maintenance to be done on the Black Cat this last week. Jorge provided the time to take the boat to Ballard and back. Dedicated members showed up to work on the boat to make sure the upcoming Work Party goes even smoother.
Notice, not only the blue of the bottom, but the blue of the sky! It is March in Seattle!

Mark your calendars.
As most of you know our sailing club has two major work parties each year—one in the spring and one in the fall. The Board has scheduled this year’s spring work party for Saturday, April 16th
Our members and guests always comment on how well our boats are maintained and this is primarily because of the work members do in the spring and fall.
While we always hope to complete all the projects by 1 or 2 p.m. on the day of the work party, in actuality some of us will need to work well into the afternoon.
If you can only attend for part of the day you can still make an important contribution by working a couple of hours in the morning or helping us clean up and put equipment away later in the afternoon.
Shift 1. During the morning we need three or four people to show up in the club room about 8 a.m. to help deliver the tools, supplies, drinks, and breakfast rolls to the docks and have everything ready to go when members arrive about 9 a.m. This early crew will also rig up the lines and pull a boat over in preparation for scrubbing the bottoms and waxing the hulls.
Shift 2. Second, we need crews of at least four people per boat who can work from roughly 9 a.m. until noon or 1 p.m.
Shift 3. Third, we need five or six people who can work after noon until the major projects are completed around 2:30 or 3:00 p.m.
Shift 4. Finally, we need at least three people to remain after the work is done (possibly as late as 3 p.m. until 4:30 p.m.) until all equipment and supplies are returned to the clubroom and everything is cleaned up. So, any member who has other obligations in the morning can assist in the afternoon and even if your schedule would not allow you to attend until after 3 p.m. we still can use your help.
We definitely need you to let s know when you can help (i.e., which shifts–8 a.m., morning 9 a.m. until noon, afternoon, and/or late afternoon cleanup). This is critical to our planning so we do not start more projects than we will be able to complete and so we will know how many pizzas to order for lunch.
